The mission of Aloha Pu‘u Kukui is to protect and restore the native Hawaiian forest that captures the rain and provides our water.

On Maui, we manage 8,304 acres in the Pu'u Kukui conservation easement and 891 acres in the Honolua conservation easement, reaching from the summit of Pu‘u Kukui down to the ocean at Honolua Bay.

In 2025, we added 3,817 Hawaiian plants to our forests. This year, we plan to add 10,000!

The Pu‘u Kukui watershed is a precious native Hawaiian forest which works as a natural sponge to capture the water used by the entire West Maui community.  It is home to plant and animal species that exist nowhere else in Hawai‘i, or anywhere else.

Join us! We are looking for volunteers to help us. Depending on the time of year, it may be collecting and processing seeds, removing invasive plants, maintaining a lo’i kalo, or planting Koa trees.
