Wish List

It can be hard to pick out presents for your favorite watershed.

So we made a list of ideas to make it easier to decide.

Every item on this list directly helps us protect and restore the forest at Pu‘u Kukui.

When you find a gift that catches your eye, choose the link to make a donation for that item:

$50 Trimmer line (2 donated, 2 more needed)

Invasive plants don’t stand a chance against this heavy duty trimmer line. We use a lot of this to suppress weeds, giving our native plants a chance to grow.

$150 Erosion Mat (3 needed)

This matting, made from coconut husks, is just the thing when we are replanting in eroded areas. It captures moisture, provides protection to seedlings, and reduces erosion.

$300 Work Boots (5 needed)

It’s never easy hiking up and down steep gulches in the rain with no trail, but these boots help us stay safe and keep our feet dry.

$500 Auger (2 needed)

Digging one hole by hand is fine, but we want to plant a forest. This is the tool we use to make hundreds of holes.

$5,000 Tree Planting Event (2 needed)

Sponsor a large scale tree planting day in our forest restoration area. We will remove invasive plants, prepare the site, grow the native seedlings, and plant hundreds of native trees.

$7,500 Internship (2 needed)

Your sponsorship will enable an intern to join the Pu‘u Kukui crew, and gain valuable skills and experience in the field of conservation.

$8,000 Lo‘i Kalo Restoration (3 needed)

Your support will allow us to restore and reopen ancient Lo‘i along Honolua Stream. In addition to the kalo they produce, these Lo‘i are important tools in capturing sediment that would otherwise flow down into the ocean.

$10,000 Field Technician Sponsor (6 needed)

Sponsor one of our field technicians for two months as they learn valuable skills on how to safely work in remote areas and rugged terrain.
